Checking hard disk for bad blocks

A hard disk bad block is a section of the hard disk that cannot be read from or written to. To detect bad blocks we can use the badblocks command. For example to scan the hard drive /dev/sda for bad blocks, we can run the command: badblocks -v /dev/sda
